Bosun Tijani co-founded Co-Creation Hub in Yaba. It became the heart of Lagos’s tech scene.
From a computer science diploma in Jos to a PhD in innovation, Bosun Tijani built CcHUB in Lagos and acquired Nairobi’s iHub along the way.
Olatunbosun Tijani was born in Agege, Lagos, in 1977. He studied at the University of Jos, earned a master’s in information systems at Warwick Business School in 2007, and completed a PhD in innovation and economic development at the University of Leicester in 2023.
Before founding anything, he worked with the International Trade Centre in Geneva on a web-marketing programme that was deployed in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and later Ethiopia, South Africa and Tanzania.
A hub in Yaba
Back in Lagos, Tijani co-founded Co-Creation Hub (CcHUB) with Femi Longe in 2010. It opened as a social innovation centre in Yaba, the Lagos suburb that has since become known as the city’s technology hub. More than 120 startups are reported to have passed through CcHUB. In 2019, under his leadership, CcHUB acquired Kenya’s iHub and opened a design lab in Kigali, Rwanda.
He is now Nigeria’s minister of communications, innovation and digital economy, appointed in 2023.
A good building and a good community can change what a neighbourhood becomes. That is the lesson of Yaba, and of Tijani’s career.
